I was hurrying through the rain late tonight when I saw a broken red umbrella being blown along nearby in an empty plaza. My first thought was it looked almost poetic — vibrant and red, but broken and abandoned, against dark and dampened concrete — and my second thought was that it’d be a great Photo Throwdown shot. Then, of course, I remembered it is over.
I didn’t take the photo, but rather hurried along into the night. But it was a moment that gave me pause. The Throwdown — and a number of events over the past year — has changed the way I look at things.
I’ll probably elaborate another time, but for tonight, I guess all I wanted to say was that the challenge was more than just posting a stupid picture every day.
