Clockwise from top left: Breakfast bacon, Peking duck and prawn crackers, red bean soup and lettuce wraps.
The latter three are part of a Chinese New Year dinner I had with family. Love Peking duck. The crispy skin is eaten inside a flour wrap with sauce and green onion and/or cucumber, while the meat is mixed together with some other goodness and eaten in a lettuce wrap. Delicious. Red bean soup, on the other hand — I’ve never met a Chinese-Canadian under 35 who likes it. It’s the default dessert that comes with big Chinese dinners.
Friend and colleague Erin Loxam and I have pledged to take and upload one photo every day for all of 2011. See how she’s doing here.
