Okay, so I didn’t technically TAKE this photo, but it was with my iPhone. Also, I think the sheer awesomeness of it trumps the technicality of whose finger touched the camera icon on my phone.
The story: Our social media guy, Brad Frenette, apparently tweeted Margaret — who’s in town for a benefit — asking if she’d like to come in for a tour of the newsroom. Not only did she accept, but she declined our offer of sending a cab to pick her up, opting instead to just walk over. (She was staying close by, but still. I find that cool.) She showed up alone, and was charming. Journalists swarmed to her. I stalked her around the newsroom creepily. Totally worth it.
When she was about to leave, Sun Editor-in-Chief Patricia Graham asked me to go buy Margaret a cookie. I went down to the cookie place and noticed two options — white and dark chocolate — and panicked. Bought both. Shortly afterward, Margaret tweeted:
Hee hee. A neat day.
Friend and colleague Erin Loxam and I have pledged to take and upload one photo every day for all of 2011. See how she’s doing here.
