National Opt-Out Day

Today is National Opt-Out Day, a day created by and for people who are fed up with the TSA’s new enhanced security measures. It’s a fitting day to post some of the New Yorker‘s best airport security-related cartoons, a collection of which they posted on their site yesterday and span from 1938 to 2009. Funny (sad) how they’ve gone from being farcical to spot-on over the years.

My favourites (mostly because they’d serve accurately as instructional illustrations today):

By Helen Hokinson, April 2, 1938.

By Ed Fisher, September 2, 1972.

By Peter Steiner, December 3, 2001.
